BMT-nin Əhali Fondu Birləşmiş Millətlər Təşkilatının cinsi və reproduktiv sağlamlıq agentliyidir. BMT-nin Əhali Fondunun missiyası hər bir hamiləliyin arzu edilən olduğu, hər bir doğuşun təhlükəsiz keçdiyi və hər bir gəncin potensialının reallaşa biləcəyi dünyaya nail olmaqdan ibarətdir.

We promote gender equality and empower women, girls and young people to take control of their bodies and their futures. We work with partners in more than 150 countries to provide access to a wide range of sexual and reproductive health services, with the goal of ending unmet need for family planning, preventable maternal death and gender-based violence and harmful practices including child marriage female genital mutilation by 2030.

Fərid Babayev Azərbaycanın Bakı şəhərində anadan olmuşdur. Azərbaycan Tibb Universitetinin məzunu olan Dr. Fərid Babayev BMT-dəki karyerasına UNICEF-in Sağlam Həyat Tərzi üzrə Proqramının baş təlimçisi kimi başlamışdır. Daha sonra o, peşəkar fəaliyyətini reproduktiv sağlamlıq üzrə əlaqələndirici qismində Ümumdünya Səhiyyə Təşkilatında davam etdirmişdir. Bu vəzifədə çalışdığı müddət ərzində cənab Babayev Azərbaycanda icra edilən reproduktiv sağlamlıq layihələrinin inkişafına müvafiq texniki və proqram dəstəyinin göstərilməsində yaxından iştirak etmişdir. Əldə etdiyi bilikləri bölüşmək və beynəlxalq təcrübəni öyrənmək istəyi onu karyerasını dünyada qızların və qadınların reproduktiv sağlamlıq və hüquqlarının müdafiəsi ilə məşğul olan aparıcı BMT agentliyi – Birləşmiş Millətlər Təşkilatının Əhali Fondunda (UNFPA) davam etdirməyə ilhamlandırmışdır.
