Dr. Farid Babayev

Dr. Farid Babayev was born in Baku, Azerbaijan and graduated from Azerbaijan Medical University. He began his career in UN as Master Trainer for UNICEF Programme on Healthy Life Style. Later on, he engaged with WHO as focal point on Reproductive Health for Azerbaijan, providing technical and programme support for development of the Reproductive Health projects in Azerbaijan. The courage to share his knowledge and learn international expertise drove his inspiration to start working in the United Nations Population Fund, known for its advocacy for reproductive health and rights of women and girls around the world. 

Advancing through a series of promotions since then, Farid’s experience led him in May 2006 to appointment as the Assistant Representative of the UNFPA’s office in the Republic of Azerbaijan. On this position, Farid is responsible for the overall coordination and management of the portfolio of UNFPA-funded programmes in Azerbaijan under supervision of UN Resident Coordinator and UNFPA Representative.

Dr. Farid Babayev’s academic credentials include a Master Degree in Business Administration from the Lucy Cavendish College of Cambridge University, and a PhD from the Azerbaijan Postgraduate Institute. He is fluent in Azerbaijani (native), Russian, English and French.

Married, father of two children.
