Under the supervision and guidance of the UNFPA Assistant Representative, the Communications Officer will have the following duties and responsibilities:

Conduct the development of and dissemination of relevant outreach and marketing materials

Develop annual media/communication strategy/plan in line with the project documents

Create and maintain the projects’ pages through social media channels

Analyze and interpret the political, social and economic environment relevant to population and development, and identify opportunities for UNFPA assistance and intervention via various media channels

Establish, maintain and utilize broad network of media contacts to keep them abreast of the developments in UNFPA, and share relevant information

Contribute to the formulation and design of the AWPs and related activities in line with the government priorities and according to the UNFPA programme policies and procedures

Support market researches and client feedback-gathering activities

Conduct other communication related activities deemed necessary within the framework of the UNFPA Country Programme and requested by the Project Managers

Perform other job related duties assigned by the UNFPA Assistant Representative

Job Requirements

Education:

Master’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations and/or other related social science field.

Knowledge and Experience:

Minimum five years of related work experience in communications, Public Service, Policies, Programmes or other related development field with a varied set of stakeholders, preferably in an international, customer focused organizations, Government or NGO.

Previous work experience in private sector and with similar assignment concerning sensitive issues will be considered an asset.

Understanding of UNFPA Mandate, work context and stakeholders is an asset.

 

Required Competencies:

Strong working knowledge of MS Office applications.

Ability to work independently in an efficient and timely manner.

Effective organizational skills.

Ability to draft and present marketing materials, web content, press releases, and relevant materials in English and Azerbaijani languages.

Languages:

Fluency in written and oral communication skills in English and Azerbaijani is required.
